What Does My Hotel Status Mean?
What each status on your hotel means, from starting your assessment to going live.
Every hotel on the Alō Index moves through several stages, from when you start your assessment to when your score goes live. The status shown on your hotel tells you where you are and whether anything is waiting on you. Here's what each status means.
Your hotel moves through these stages in order. Most of the work is on your side at the start. Once you submit, our team takes it from there.

In Progress
What it means: Your assessment is open and you're working through it. You've started answering questions across the three Alō pillars (People, Planet, and Policy) but haven't submitted yet.
What's happening: Your answers save as you go, so you can step away and come back without losing your place. Nothing is shared with our team until you submit.
What you need to do: Complete the remaining questions. Once every required section is filled in, you'll be able to submit.
Submitted
What it means: You've finished your assessment and sent it to the Alō team. Your part is done for now.
What's happening: Your assessment has entered our queue. Your answers are locked so that the version we review is exactly the one you approved.
What you need to do: Nothing. We'll let you know as your hotel moves to the next stage. If you spot something you'd like to change, contact us and we can reopen your assessment.
Under Review
What it means: Our team is reviewing your submission and preparing to calculate your Alō Score.
What's happening: We check your responses, apply any relevant certifications and third-party data, and make sure everything is consistent before scoring. This step keeps your score accurate and reliable.
What you need to do: Nothing. This stage is entirely on us.
Scored
What it means: Your Alō Score has been calculated across all three pillars, but it hasn't been shared with you or made public yet.
What's happening: Your results are going through a final internal check to confirm the score reflects your assessment before we release it to you.
What you need to do: Nothing yet. Your score is on its way to you.
Released to You
What it means: Your Alō Score is ready, and we've shared it with you to review before it goes live.
What's happening: You can now see your full score and the breakdown across People, Planet, and Policy. This is your chance to look everything over.
What you need to do: Review your score and results. If anything looks off or you have questions, reach out before it's published. When you're comfortable, your score moves toward publication.
Approved
What it means: Your score has been confirmed and is cleared to go live.
What's happening: This is the final checkpoint before publication. Everything is confirmed and ready.
What you need to do: Nothing. Publication happens automatically from here.
Published
What it means: Your Alō Score is live. Your hotel now appears on the Alō Index, where travel buyers, corporate travel programs, and partners use Alō to factor sustainability into their booking decisions.
What's happening: Your score is active. Buyers and programs can now see it when they choose where to send their travelers.
What you need to do: Nothing is required. When your programs or practices change, update your assessment and we'll re-score your hotel so your published score stays current.
A note on "Action Required"
Sometimes you'll see an Action Required flag on your hotel. This isn't a stage in the journey. It's a signal that something needs your attention before your hotel can move forward, such as a missing answer or a document we need. When you see it, open your hotel to find out exactly what's needed.
